Program

Day 1 – Italy → Tromsø Departure from Italy and arrival in Tromsø.

After arrival, transfer and check-in at the hotel. Free time for a first exploration of the city, with its Arctic harbor, Nordic cafés, winter lights, and polar atmosphere. In the evening, if conditions are favorable, there may already be a chance to try spotting the Northern Lights for the first time. Overnight stay in Tromsø. Dinner not included.

Day 2 – Tromsø → Skjervøy and first whale watching excursion

Early morning departure with breakfast box included, followed by transfer by bus to Skjervøy through spectacular scenery of fjords, snow-covered mountains, rugged coastlines, and small northern settlements. The day will be dedicated to the first whale watching excursion at sea. At this time of year, the waters around Skjervøy are among the best in Europe for observing orcas and humpback whales, attracted by the herring gathering in the fjords. The guided Skua Nature excursion offers an intense encounter with Arctic marine wildlife, always with respect for the animals and sea conditions. Lunch included after the activity. In the afternoon, free time in Skjervøy to relax, walk around the village, and enjoy the northern atmosphere. Dinner and overnight stay in Skjervøy. In the evening, possibility of Northern Lights observation.

Day 3 – Skjervøy: second excursion with orcas and whales

Second boat excursion dedicated to spotting orcas, humpback whales, and other cetaceans. Having two excursions increases the chances of sightings and allows better flexibility according to the ever-changing Arctic weather and sea conditions. Sailing through these fjords in winter means immersing yourself in a unique landscape: low Arctic light, snow-covered mountains, dark waters, and silence interrupted only by the breath of whales. Lunch included after the activity. Free afternoon in Skjervøy for walks around the village, photography, or simply enjoying the peace of the north. Dinner and overnight stay in Skjervøy. In the evening, another opportunity to search for the Northern Lights.

Day 4 – Skjervøy → Sørkjosen → Kirkenes → Tana Bru → Kongsfjord

Transfer from Skjervøy to Sørkjosen and domestic flight to Kirkenes via Tromsø. Arrival in eastern Finnmark marks the beginning of the second part of the journey, more remote and deeply Arctic. In Kirkenes, meeting with the SKUA guide who will accompany the group until the end of the tour. From here, continuation to Tana Bru for the dog sledding experience. Husky sledding is one of the most iconic Arctic winter activities. After an introduction to the activity and the relationship between musher and dogs, departure through snowy forests, white trails, and silent landscapes. The rhythm of the sled, the breathing of the huskies, and the soft light of the Nordic winter make this one of the most emotional moments of the trip. Afterwards, continuation to Kongsfjord, a small village overlooking the Barents Sea, located in one of the most remote and fascinating areas of Arctic Norway. Lunch and dinner included. Overnight stay in Kongsfjord. In the evening, possible Northern Lights observation.

Day 5 – King Crab Experience and Arctic sauna

A day dedicated to one of the most iconic experiences of the Barents Sea: the King Crab, the giant crab living in the icy Arctic waters. This activity offers the chance to learn more about this remarkable species and its connection to the lives of northern coastal communities. Depending on local organization and weather conditions, the experience may include a fishing excursion or a guided discovery activity focused on the King Crab, followed by a tasting/lunch featuring king crab. In the afternoon, return to Kongsfjord and relaxation in an Arctic sauna, perfect after outdoor activities and days spent in the cold of the Far North. Dinner and overnight stay in Kongsfjord. In the evening, excursion or observation dedicated to the Northern Lights, weather permitting.

Day 6 – Berlevåg and snowshoeing in Veines

After breakfast, visit to Berlevåg, a historic fishing village overlooking the Barents Sea. This corner of Norway offers a vivid insight into the life of northern communities, shaped by the sea, wind, fishing traditions, and the long winter season. During the visit, it will also be possible to learn more about local history through the Berlevåg museum, linked to the port tradition and life along the Arctic coast. Return to Kongsfjord for lunch. In the afternoon, snowshoeing excursion through the landscapes of Finnmark: snowy tundra, gentle hills, Arctic light, and deep silence. A simple yet highly evocative activity, ideal for embracing the slow rhythm of northern winter and observing the natural environment peacefully. Dinner and overnight stay in Kongsfjord. In the evening, another opportunity to observe the Northern Lights.

Day 7 – Return towards Lapland, Sami farm and Kaamanen

Departure southward, leaving the Barents Sea behind to cross the immense snow-covered landscapes of Lapland. The scenery gradually changes: remote coastlines, plateaus, boreal forests, and territories crossed by reindeer. Stop in Kaamanen for lunch and an authentic experience at a Sami farm. We will meet a local reindeer herder and have the opportunity to discover the traditions of this ancient Arctic people, their relationship with reindeer, and life in the northern regions. During the visit, we will witness the feeding of the reindeer and learn about aspects of Sami culture, including the use of the suopunki, the traditional lasso used for gathering reindeer. This will be an important cultural and human experience, adding depth to the journey beyond its naturalistic dimension. Continuation and accommodation in the Kaamanen area, in the heart of Finnish Lapland. Lunch and dinner included. Overnight stay in Kaamanen. Final chance to observe the Northern Lights.
