This tour is specially designed to offer unparalleled opportunities to photograph the elusive Iberian lynx, majestic vultures, and a dazzling array of bird species in their prime. With expertly positioned hides and the guidance of skilled professionals, you’ll capture stunning moments in one of Europe’s most biodiverse regions.
Day 1
The group will be welcomed by the local guide and transferred by private van to the beautiful estate of Peñalajo, in the heart of Castilla-La Mancha. This private reserve is one of the few places in Europe where it is possible to observe and photograph the extremely rare Iberian lynx in the wild — one of the most endangered wild cats in the world. In the afternoon, you'll begin your first photographic session, settling into specially designed hides that offer optimal conditions for spotting and capturing images of the lynx. The day ends with a welcome dinner and overnight stay at the estate.
Day 2
The entire day will be devoted to observing and photographing the Iberian lynx. At dawn, you'll return to the hides — where patience and silence are key. This elusive predator offers truly thrilling sightings when it appears. In the late afternoon, you'll be transferred to the La Parrilla Reserve, arriving in time for dinner and check-in.
Days 3–6
Four full days immersed in nature, light, and photography at La Parrilla, Las Viñas, and Monfragüe National Park. Each day will include up to three photo sessions — morning, afternoon, and optional nighttime sessions. The hides at La Parrilla and Las Viñas are positioned across different habitats and offer opportunities to capture a wide variety of subjects: Diurnal raptors (such as the golden eagle and the Spanish imperial eagle) Large vultures (griffon, cinereous, Egyptian) Colorful passerines Small carnivores such as the genet, which can be observed during nocturnal sessions using discreet, non-invasive lighting Striking natural landscapes in a remote and unspoiled setting. One of the days will be fully dedicated to exploring the renowned Monfragüe National Park, one of Europe's most important bird conservation areas. You will visit some of the park’s best observation points, such as the iconic Salto del Gitano, where black storks, kites, eagles, and vulture colonies are frequently seen gliding along the cliffs. All meals are included and will be enjoyed at carefully selected local establishments or at the lodge, featuring traditional cuisine and regional ingredients.
Day 7
On your final morning last exceptional opportunities for close-up photography, with dozens of individuals of vutures seen in flight or feeding. Following the session, private transfer back to Madrid Airport and return journey.
Madrid, Peñalajo, Parco Nazionale del Monfrague
Bring:
We recommend packing outdoor-appropriate clothing. In October, temperatures in central Spain can vary significantly throughout the day: chilly mornings and evenings and warm afternoons that can reach 20–22°C. Layered clothing is key — opt for breathable, lightweight technical garments, a windbreaker or light waterproof jacket, and comfortable hiking shoes.
For wildlife photography, we recommend a lens with a minimum focal length of 400mm, ideal for capturing distant animals like raptors or wild cats from hides.
For landscape photography, a wide-angle lens is best. A light, stable tripod is also useful, especially for low-light conditions at dawn, dusk, or during nocturnal shoots.
